Welcome to my studio
the doorway to my studio
My physical studio is a room in my home. It’s a small room, but it holds my art materials and craft supplies, books about art and journal writing and creativity, “treasures” I’ve collected over the years, and many finished and unfinished creative projects I’ve worked on over the years. I am a creative explorer, and I have taken all kinds of creativity and art classes over the years, from journalling to pottery, from collage to mixed-media painting.
My art studio is a little sanctuary for me. I find that having a consistent creative practice helps keep me centred and grounded, and better able to deal with stress and uncertainty. Right now my regular creative practices include morning written journaling, and evening mandala art. Some days I don’t create at all, and other days I may do more or different creative activities. I don’t like rigid rules, so these are guidelines I set for myself. It’s like my yoga practise: I aim for 3 mornings a week, and am happy if I do at least SOME yoga every week.
Another of my favorite creative practices (which I have been doing since 2011) is SoulCollage®, where you make collaged cards using images and your intuition. The SoulCollage® cards you create show some of the many, varied aspects of you. Your cards will reflect your personality, the roles you play in your life, your hobbies and interests, and people that are important in your life. I have created over 130 collaged SoulCollage® cards now, each one of which reflects some facet of me. I find it a very satisfying and illuminating creative practise. SoulCollage® is also a tool that helps me uncover my true feelings, dreams, and motivations. With SoulCollage® I have learned to trust my intuition, and making and journaling with my cards helped me navigate many changes and phases in my life story.
I am here, in this online “studio”, because of the pandemic. In 2021, I had the opportunity to take the SoulCollage® facilitator training course online to become a SoulCollage® Facilitator. This is something I have wanted to do for a long time, and the option to do my Facilitator training online, made my dream a reality. Now I am on a new journey with east coast raven studio: to facilitate SoulCollage® workshops and build a creative community. I hope you will join me.
